How I'm Exiting My Flop Content Era (and How You Can Too!)

We’ve all been there. The ‘meh content era.’ That feeling when everything you post just feels… flat. I was right there at the start of this year. After years of running my small creative business, juggling social platforms, and trying to stay inspired, I hit a wall. I knew something had to change. So this Spring, I gave myself a full content reset – and I can honestly say, it’s already working!

I wanted to share exactly what I did to reignite my creativity and content strategy, in case you’re also feeling stuck. Let’s get you out of your flop content era too! 💖✨

🌿 Embrace the Content Reset

First step? Let go of the guilt.

Creative ruts happen. What matters is how we reset. I stopped trying to force content I wasn’t excited about, and instead gave myself permission to pause, reflect, and rebuild. The turning point? Realizing I needed a simple, repeatable system to take the guesswork out of planning (hello Notion 👋).

5 Tips to Refresh Your Content Strategy ✨

1. Audit & Reflect

Look back on your recent content. What performed well? What felt heavy? What content do you actually enjoy making? Use these reflections and how you feel about the answers to these questions to guide your next steps - there is no point in planning content you’re not excited to make!

2. Create Repeatable Content Pillars (but not how you’ve been previously told to do it!)

I used to HATE the term content pillars, becuase the idea of rinsing and repeat a set of 3-4 topics made creating content feel boring. My biggest game-changer with content has been building my content pillars around phases in my business and the ‘customer journey’ instead of topics. I designed a cycle of nurture content (like studio vlogs), growth-focused searchable content (like tutorials) for visibility, and community-building formats (like my monthly livestreams!). Having clear content buckets keeps me consistent and creative while also building and nurturing my community.

3. Batch Plan with Flexibility

I stopped trying to plan day-to-day. Using my Notion Content Planner, I now batch ideas and map out content weeks ahead — but always with space to pivot if inspiration strikes.

4. Prioritize Video First

My mindset shift this year has been: YouTube first. I create for YouTube, then repurpose for Shorts, Reels, and TikTok. It’s less overwhelming and way more efficient. For you it might be TikTok first or IG reels - but choose a space that is your primary platform and repurpose from there.

5. Embrace Experimentation

My word of the year? Experiment. I remind myself daily: not every post has to perform. Some will flop. That’s how we learn and evolve! So right now I’m giving myself permission to experiment, play and just enjoy the creativity of creating content!
